about apdo-ukthe beginning | the aims | the membership | the peoplethe beginningThe Association of Professional Declutterers and Organisers UK was founded in the autumn of 2004. The founder members realised how difficult it was to find an organiser, particularly outside London; and also that there was, at that time, little or no support or advertising for members of this industry in the United Kingdom & Ireland. Our colleagues in the USA and Canada have been providing decluttering services for many years; in recent times, the television presence of Ann Maurice (House Doctor) and Dawna Walter (Life Laundry), among others, has awoken an interest among the British public in the liberating possibilities of taking control of their environment. the aims of apdo-ukOur primary aim was to provide a combination of resources for the public and advertising, support and networking for our members. As our industry develops, we intend to provide guidance and advice for our members, events and training, and greater promotion of the benefits of a decluttered lifestyle. our membershipAfter six months, at the end of March 2005, apdo-uk listed 17 members. By the end of March 2006, our membership had increased to 60; by the end of September 2007, membership stood at over 120 businesses, from Scotland to Cornwall. the peopleThe founder members of apdo-uk were Sue Kay (no more clutter, London) and Cassie Tillett (Working Order, Norfolk).
